Grassroots & Online Advocacy

Think Globally, Act Locally

Sometimes it’s best to go directly to the people. At Public Interest Media, we know how to help you reach your audience – and motivate them to act. From e-activism to events that create a buzz, PIMG helps you to engage new constituencies, educate the public, and make people’s voices heard. We use whatever strategies will work best for our clients – from “old-fashioned” grassroots outreach to “new-fangled” Internet organizing.

Featured Campaigns

Back Up Your Birth Control
Reproductive Health Technologies Project

What can expose the best-kept secret in women's health? The Back Up Your Birth Control campaign to alert the public that emergency contraception can prevent pregnancy after sex. Working with the Reproductive Health Technologies Project and a 100-strong coalition of health groups, PIMG coined the slogan, created a user-friendly website, and generated press coverage in than 70 media markets, including 16 of the nation’s top 20. Sixty million people were reached through stories in national and regional papers (including the Wall Street Journal and Washington Post), National Public Radio, and major women’s magazines.

ChoiceJAMS
NARAL Pro-choice America and NARAL Pro-choice New Jersey

How do you get young adults involved in protecting the right to choose? Make the issue relevant to their lives – and have some fun! Public Interest Media conceived of ChoiceJAMS, a unique mix of pop culture and social action. A music jam, poetry slam, talent night, open mic, art show, and film screening all rolled into one – online and on stage – ChoiceJAMS invited up-and-coming artists to express why choice matters and compete for prizes.

Through a hip website and series of live shows in Northern New Jersey, PIMG created a new forum for artists to showcase their talents and members of the community to get involved. Generating more than 150 entries, scores of Jersey residents at every show, and hundreds of new activists, ChoiceJAMS was a smashing success.
